Billy corgan ha, finalmente, battezzato il diciannovenne Mike Byrne come nuovo batterista degli Smashing Pumpkins.
Mike Byrne, che prima di essere catapultato nell’Olimpo era al suo primo anni di Berklee College of Music, si è guadagnato l’accesso al sogno dopo che Jimmy Chamberlin aveva lasciato la band lo scorso marzo e dopo aver partecipato all’audizione che Corgan aveva lanciato urbi et orbi.

‘I’m super excited to be playing with the band. Dream come true, man’, ha dichiarato Byrne. L’audizione era durata 30 minuti, 15 di jam session e 15 di chiacchiere.

‘Through the open audition process, I was astounded by how many great drummers there were that wanted the chance to try out for The Pumpkins. We counted over 1,000 submissions, and what made Mike stand out was he just seemed to have that X-factor that all the great drummers have, a stunning blend of power, speed, and grace’ dice Corgan di Byrne.
